RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM (for student interns and students carrying out the Final Year Project or Master’s Thesis)

As an introduction to research, students in the later stages of their degree program can join the RESEARCH TRAINING PROGRAM (RTP) and work in departments at Tecnun School of Engineering and the Center of Studies and Technical Research (CEIT) on university collaboration projects compatible with their study schedules.

The RTP offers practical training and experience in research projects.

Students may participate in the RTP as:

  • Student interns

  • Students carrying out the Final Year Project

  • Students carrying out their Master’s Thesis Project

In all cases, students who are interested should submit an application. The application form is available on the website.

Regulations for student interns

  • Student interns may collaborate on teaching and research work, but are never involved in direct teaching of other students.

  • Student interns can either carry out an individual project under the supervision of a professor or participate in one of the research groups.

  • Student interns are not paid for participating, since the objective is not to lighten the department’s workload, but to train the student.

  • During this collaboration work, students receive guidance from a professor who supervises their work.

  • The collaboration period consists of 60 hours distributed over the course of the academic year. In each case, the supervisor consults with the student and decides when the collaboration work will begin.

  • Student intern appointments are granted to students with a good academic record (in accordance with the Official State Journal (BOE): GPA higher than 1.5). Student intern appointments will not be granted to students who have not completed required subjects from previous academic years.

  • Students may submit applications at any time during the academic year, provided that they do so before June 15.

  • Applicants will be informed of the outcome by email.

  • Beneficiaries are required to work in the departments to which they are assigned and are subject to the disciplinary requirements of their supervisor.

  • At the end of the period of study, student interns must submit a brief report on the work carried out and the professor assesses their collaboration work.

  • For students who receive a positive assessment, the collaboration work will be reflected in the student intern’s academic transcript and any academic certificates that may be issued.

Regulations for the Final Year Project and Master’s Thesis Project

  • Students who choose to carry out the Final Year Project or Master’s Thesis Project within the RTP must apply for admission to the RTP and must also talk to the Project Coordinator.

  • Enrollment and defense of the Final Year Project or Master’s Thesis Project must be carried out on the dates and in the manner set out for all final year projects.

  • Students carrying out the Final Year Project or Master’s Thesis Project will be assigned places in the RTP following a selection process. The GPA indicated in the student’s academic transcript will be taken into account.

  • Applicants will be informed of the outcome by email.

  • The minimum time allocated to the project is 300 hours for projects worth 12 ECTS credits.
